Best way to spend gold in World of Tanks in 2026
While gold is not as valuable as it once was with the introduction of bonds and components, it is still 2nd most impactful currency in the game after credits, and there are a lot of ways of spending it. In this post, we will cover the best ways to spend gold in World of Tanks, so you get the most value for your money.

Improved Battle Pass

Their price ranges usually from 2,500 for regular battle passes and around 3,500 for special battle passes, featuring collaboration with other games or movies such as Wolfenstein, Rambo, Terminator, etc.

Improved track gives you a lot more valuable rewards than the free track, more premium time, bounty equipment, crew books, and then also, if it’s a special battle pass, you can get a full-blooded tier 8/9 premium tank.

If you have time to complete the whole battle pass, it for sure provides the best value for the gold spent, regardless of whether you’re a free-to-play player or you buy gold on a regular basis.

For the free-to-play players, the regular battle pass for 2,500 gold, I would say, is not as valuable as the month of premium account, but if the special battlepass features a good premium tank, it is worth it in the long run since you keep the premium tank forever. Just make sure the tank is actually decent at making credits, otherwise it’s not worth your gold.

Premium Account

If you don’t have enough time to grind through the full battle pass and you play for an hour or 2 a day, the premium account might be a better option.

It really gives you a lot of benefits, such as: 50% more credits and combat experience, an additional map you can ban from your matchmaker, credits safe, and you can triple your wins up to 5x a day.

You can buy it in various forms: daily, weekly, monthly, yearly. The longer the period you purchase, the cheaper per day it is and the more cost-efficient. There is a trap tho that WG uses; people get hooked on the game, and they buy a long premium time bundle, and then they stop playing. When you buy premium time, you feel pressured to play; otherwise, your money is going to be wasted.

The most important aspect still is the extra credits you can earn while a premium account is active, then if it’s paired with the premium tank and personal reserve, you can really earn an extreme amount of credits compared to if you’re a free-to-play player.

If you play the game consistently over the course of the whole year, the yearly plan might be the best way to pay for the premium account. I personally play the most over the Christmas holidays, so I grab the monthly bundle for December, and for the rest of the year, I get a week or a couple of days, depending on my free time.

I would avoid the 7 and 3-day bundles as they provide horrible value. For example, if you only play on weekends, it’s more affordable to get a monthly bundle for 10 euros than 4 times for 5 euros.

In terms of how expensive it is for a regular person, I would say it’s rather affordable for anyone who has a regular job, 70 euros for the whole year or 10 euros a month is a good deal for the amount of things you’re getting. It makes grinding lines and credits a lot easier and enjoyable since you don’t have to stress as much about the credits economy.

Premium tanks

If you don’t have any premium tanks, this is the most important thing you need to have in your garage because it will enable you to purchase more tanks, consumables, and fire more gold rounds at your opponents.

The reason why the premium tanks are not at the top of the list is the fact that in-game stores offer alright tanks, but they are nowhere near the level of competitiveness of the tanks you can purchase using real money.

Strv S1, 50TP Prot, Patriot might be good tanks, but they get smashed by the OP tanks such as the Bourrasque, Škoda T56, BZ-176, etc.

The only opportunity you have to get above average tanks for gold is usually around holiday time, when there are around 4 weeks where 3 tanks are offered for gold in rotation, tanks that are not usually available for gold, so tanks like Ka-Ri, AMBT could be bought for gold

Demount Equipment

If you don’t have any equipment demounting tools, you can use 10 gold per equipment to demount it and store it in the depot, so you can use it on the other tank.

While this can be used on any equipment class, I would suggest not using it for cheap equipment, up to 200k credits. If you are a free-to-play player, it’s better for you to save this gold. For the expensive equipment that can range up to 700k, this is well worth demounting since the time you’ll need to regain those credits after destroying the equipment is more valuable than 10 gold.

Personal Reserves

While not recommended for the majority of the playerbase, you can also purchase personal reserves for gold, which will increase your combat, free, or crew xp for an hour. This is great for using when you’re grinding some bad tanks; this will multiply with your triple XP from a premium account and double XP for the first win of the day.

As you can see, they are really expensive if you consider a day of premium account is 250 gold, but if you are swimming in gold, this will give you a great advantage for training your crew and grinding tanks.

Retrain Crew

When retraining a crew for a different tank, you can either retrain it for free or for credits, and you get up to 60% per efficiency, but if you want to have 100% perk efficiency from the get-go, you have to pay 200 gold per crew member.

In my eyes, this is way too expensive. You can either fire up some boosters or put the crew in the premium tank and get that perk efficiency up in no time.

Convert XP to Free XP

In the standard exchange rate of 25 XP for 1 gold, this is a horrible value, and should be used only in critical situations where the tank grind, for example, the stock grind is absolutely unbearable, and you have a decent amount of gold sitting on your account.

There are tho special events that increase the exchange rate to 35 XP for 1 gold, which does increase the value of such conversion. If you want a good chunk of free XP to lie around for tough times, you can use such events to convert free XP in advance.

Convert Gold to Credits

Just don’t do it…

No matter how much gold you have, this exchange rate hasn’t been changed ever, and there is a huge credit inflation with the introduction of the WoT+ and tier 9 premium tanks. If you have money, just buy a premium account and premium tanks, and you will earn a lot more credits than you could by just converting gold into credits; it’s a huge waste.

World of Tanks Christmas Twitch Drops – Worth watching?
Went through the WoT page explaining the system for the month of December for the twitch drops, and here is my breakdown if it’s worth the hassle in order to get a tier 8 premium tank with spending no cash.

Festive tokens

Here is the overview of the rewards for December:

The main rewards are the 2 tier 8 premium medium tanks, the Strv 81 and Object 274a. In my opinion, the 274a is a better tank, but none of them are OP by any means. They would be alright credit makers, both of the tanks have relatively high shell costs, which doesn’t make them very profitable in the long run.

If you skip a week of watching the streams, you can still get a tier 8 since the max amount of tokens is 120, and you get 20 for a full week of watching.

The rest of the rewards are kinda meh if you are not really into the 3D styles for the Maus and Vz 55. Premium account redemption is limited to only 1, which does suck for free-to-play players.

What to buy

If you collect 100 tokes or more, I would get a premium tier 8, since in the long run, you will get the most use out of it. If you value the accuracy and gun depression, grab the Strv 81; otherwise, the Object might be a better choice.

If you collect fewer than 100 tokens, the priorities for the rewards would go like this for me:
1. Booster
2. Premium Account
3. 2D Styles
4. Consumables
5. 3D Styles
12 Days of Tankmas

In my experience, the chances of rare loot dropping are extremely low, so I would not bother watching streams on all 12 days, but only these:

Day 3 – December 5th
Progetto 46 – One of the best tier 8 mediums

Day 6 – December 8th
LT-432 – Light with armor, DPM and camo

Day 8 – December 10th
IS-3A – Reverse autoreloader, very broken mechanic

Day 10 – December 12th
Contradicious after only 90 minutes of watching and 1 Large box after 150 minutes

Day 11 – December 13th
Bourrassque – heavy hitting medium with light tank camo

Day 12 – December 14th
Turtle Mk.1 – TD with crazy armor and monster DPM

Keep in mind, the drop rates for premium tanks are low, but if you have time on these days, feel free to give it a go, you never know, maybe you get lucky and get a great credits maker without spending money.

Games with the best Christmas events in 2025

In this post we’ll be taking a look at the games which have the best and most unique Christmas events, so you know from which games you can expect special experience through the Christmas time.

Holiday Ops – World of Tanks

Usual timeline – December 1st – January 8th

Personally, the best Christmas event that any game has at the moment, the amount of rewards you get just by playing through December is amazing, it makes grinding through the tank lines a lot more enjoyable and a relaxing experience. Also, each year we get a special commander who is one of the very popular actors, such as Arnold Schwarzenneger, Chuck Norris.

Most of the people look forward towards the lootboxes the most, through the years, they have become a staple for the best bang for buck in the game. While the bundles are very expensive, going up to 300 euros, they are worth your money if you were planning to get a year of premium or want to spend gold on season passes. You just get a lot more gold at the end from the big lootbox bundle compared to what you would get from straight buying the gold and premium time.

Lootboxes often feature new tanks with new mechanics, which forces players to buy lootboxes in order to have a chance of owning such vehicles in the garage.

Winterfest – Fortnite

Usual timeline – mid-December to start of January

While not as impressive as the Holiday Ops in World of Tanks, Winterfest in Fortnite still has something to offer to it’s players, the core mechanic is the daily present system. You can open one present per day from the winterfest lodge from which you can get 14 free cosmetics.

There can be also special skins like those that appeared last year, one that has to be opened last and one that is avaliable on Christmas day.
Good thing compared to the Holiday ops is that the rewards are completely free and each present has consistent rewards for all players, but this daily system does force you to play the game every day or you will miss a skin or a cosmetic.

Feast of the Winter Veil – World of Warcraft

Usual timeline – Mid-December to the start of January

A pretty short event that offers a lot of content to its players. It features some special events with Christmas-themed plots.
Main features of the event are the holiday boss, gift opening, which usually lasts from Christmas to January 2nd, and features 6 distinct presents under the Greatfather Winter’s tree. Snowball fights for PvP activities and winter revelers, which are the NPCs in inns that give gifts.
In terms of rewards, last year it featured the pets, transmog sets, achievement rewards, crafting recipes, historic gifts, and toys.

Winter Tales – War Thunder

Usual timeline – December 20th – January 9th

Similar to the WoT, War Thunder’s Christmas event also features special vehicles that can be obtained through playing as the event rewards or premium vehicles that can be purchased.
Vehicles are also significantly discounted, up to 50% off all vehicles, 50% off modifications, talismans, and backups, and also premium account can be purchased for half the price.
In terms of free rewards, there are decals and Christmas decorations, which in all honesty is not all the exciting.

Khorovod – Escape from Tarkov

Usual timeline – starts December 26th

A very short and simple Christmas event in Escape from Tarkov, which starts right after Christmas.
Main features are the Santa Claus NPC that spawns on all maps except The Lab, he hands out items from the Santa Bag, then we also have the Christmas Tree Module, which is available in the Hideout.
Holiday Quest Chain features the 10 new quests and a festive atmosphere with Christmas-themed decorations and ambient effects.
Rewards are the winter clothing, unique achievements, Christmas walkers and labrys access keycards.

Winter’s Haunt – Apex Legends

Usual timeline – Mid-December to January 7th

Apex Legends also has a nice Christmas Event, which features the Winter Express LTM, a fan-favorite train-based mode, 30 event cosmetics, so you can complete the collection of the frost-themed items, ice gems currency, which you can spend in the reward shop and event packs, specialized Apex packs with guaranteed event items.

Gameplay wise, it can include new weapons, legend balance changes and reward shop rotations.

Major rewards are skins and Heirlooms shards.
